Key concepts in logistics and distribution management

Description

This course covers logistics at both the business and macroeconomic levels. At the business economics level, logistics is viewed from an integrated supply chain approach (Supply Chain Management). Here various topics such as physical distribution, inventory management, forecasting, and storage and handling systems are considered. The step to the macroeconomic level is taken by analyzing the location choice of companies. Here the essential trends manifesting themselves in the globalized logistics and freight forwarding world are discussed. The distinctive role of Flanders as a top logistics region in Europe is also important in this regard. Innovative logistics concepts, such as outsourcing, partnerships and value-added logistics are discussed in detail.
