Discover the complex relationship between the Society of Jesus and sanctity, hagiography, and iconography

Description

The second annual Jesuit Heritage Summer School will focus on the themes of sanctity, hagiography, and iconography, with which the Society of Jesus has a rich and complex relationship. Sessions will not only be devoted to the founder saints of the Society, but also to the ways in which the Jesuits transformed the tradition of Western hagiography through the writings of the Bollandists, and how Baroque art was used in the iconographic campaigns of the Order.
