A unique opportunity to specialize in the politics of transatlantic trade in an historic financial centre where transatlantic trade was born. From historical perspectives on the transatlantic relationship to modern geopolitical challenges, this interdisciplinary course offers expert insights into the dynamics driving trade politics between Europe and the Americas.
Target group: Advanced Bachelor, Master and early PhD students with an interest in the political science, history and political economy of transatlantic and international trade, as well as its current geopolitics and politicization. Early career professionals from European institutions as well as civil society organisations are equally welcome to attend.
Programma
Organized by the Jean Monnet Network on Transatlantic Trade Politics, the Summer School in Transatlantic Trade Politics offers one week of seminars for advanced undergraduate students and Master level students. Interdisciplinary in nature, and delivered by a group of experts from both sides of the Atlantic, it will address a range of issues in transatlantic relations, including historical perspectives; the political economy of transatlantic trade and investment; collaboration on issues of security and defence; culture and political discourse; and current challenges like geopoliticization and the response to climate change and Covid-19.
Format: Intensive seminar (5 days, 2x3hours per day). Teaching will be delivered by professors from across Europe and North America.
