Een boeiend avondsymposium in het kader van het Postgraduaat Partnerrelatie-, gezins- en systemische psychotherapie.

Multiple Family therapy of groepsgezinstherapie is een effectieve behandeling bij verschillende psychiatrische stoornissen (o.a. psychose, depressie, eetstoornissen,…). Buitenlandse sprekers komen hun ontwikkeld multifamilie model voorstellen tijdens het symposium. Sprekers uit Spanje lichten het Interfamily therapy model toe dat toegepast wordt in verschillende mentale gezondheid, schoolse en sociale contexten. Sprekers vanuit Griekenland geven meer info omtrent hun A-MFGT model (The Athens Multifamily Group Therapy Project) voor eerste episode psychose dat ook een online toepassing kent.

  • Interfamily therapy: A multifamily approach in mental health, educational and social context. - Claudio Fuenzalida and Javier Sempere
    • ​​​​Interfamily Therapy is a modern form of therapeutic work, scientifically validated, which is placed half-way between psychotherapy and social intervention. It brings together different models such as attachment theory, group analysis, large group work, systemic family therapy and the so-called “Open Dialogue Practice”. It is applicable not only to mental health, but also to dealing with a variety of human problems and in a variety of institutions.

      It is a model has proved to be useful for psychologists, psychiatrists, nurses, doctors, social workers, occupational therapists, teachers and other professional groups.

      It is a simple, practical and human treatment which implies a more social, ecological and democratic way of understanding and of acting on the problems of human beings, which could be expanded as a widespread modelof interventionin mental health, social services and education, thanks to its efficiency and low cost.

      Some theoretical and clinical concepts for multifamily therapy and, more specifically, the“Interfamily Therapy” model will be discussed.

  • The (online) Athens Multifamily Group Therapy Project (A- MFGT) for first episode psychosis. - Mirjana Selakovic and Valeria Pomini
    • Psychosis can affect all aspects of a person’s life and, without support and appropriate care, it can place considerable weight on the patient’s relatives, as well as the community in general. Family interventions have been shown to reduce the likelihood of relapse for individuals across the spectrum of psychosis and are recommended in practice guidelines for psychosis internationally.
      The Athens Multifamily Group Therapy Project (A- MFGT) started in 2017 and aims to provide systemic multifamily therapy to youths who experienced a first psychotic episode (FEP) and their families. MFGT can be a viable way to support the whole system facing psychosis, while preventing relapse and implementing quality of life of all participants.
      The presentation will focus on a) main issues linked to FEP and to high-risk clinical conditions which might lead to FEP, b) the importance and evidence of family treatment, and c) the aims, methods, and results of A-MFGT.
