Description

There is a rapid growth of new technologies being researched an brought into the sports physiotherapy market. Clinicians and rehab specialists need to learn how to critically assess these technologies and understand how they can add value to the clinical reasoning process, from rehab to return to sport and performance. This requires a new way of thinking and a broader skillset in applied practice. This webinar will cover these topics from the perspective of gait analysis and gait retraining. Examples will be drawn from wearable technology, which can be used as a tool to asst clinical decision making inside the practice (e.g., treadmill running) as well as outside the practice (e.g., track or trail running).

Learning objectives

1. To be able to critically evaluate new running gait analysis technologies (from research- to commercially-based)

2.To be able to link sport injuries with running biomechanics and modifiable risk factors.

3. To be able to apply gait analysis in an applied setting, inside and outside the clinic.

4. To know which technical and clinical skills are required to navigate new sports technologies.
