Meet the North-Irish author

Description

On 27 March, we are happy to welcome Northern Irish author Wendy Erskine to our city campus in Antwerp.

Her stories have been regularly published in the literary magazine The Stinging Fly. Her debut collection, Sweet Home, came out in 2018. This collection won the 2020 Butler Literary Award, was shortlisted for the Edge Hill Prize 2019 and longlisted for the Gordon Burn Prize 2019. The Guardian, The White Review, Observer, New Statesman and TLS all named it 'book of the year'. Her stories are peppered with true and sometimes raw observations about life in Belfast, but they are never without hope. With a sense of humour, she paints her characters as real-life people, with sharp dialogue and honest emotions.
